Painted by Clyde Caldwell in 1981, 'To the Stars' served as the cover art for the Science Fiction Book Club hardcover omnibus edition of Harry Harrison's To the Stars trilogy (compiling Homeworld, Wheelworld, and Starworld) published by Nelson Doubleday, later appearing as Card #40 in the 1995 Fantasy Art of Clyde Caldwell trading card set by FPG. The composition depicts series protagonist Jan Kulozik and a fellow resistance operative armed with futuristic energy rifles on an elevated balcony overlooking a spired sci-fi metropolis, set beneath a cratered moon and starfield traversed by rebel spacecraft.
