The artwork depicts the charged first encounter and tense, burgeoning dynamic between Tanis Half-Elven and Kitiara Uth Matar years prior to the War of the Lance. Set against the rugged, snow-capped mountains of Krynn, Tanis appears as a wild woodsman in buckskins and fur carrying his recurve bow, locking eyes in fierce defiance and magnetic attraction with Kitiara, who draws her sword in ornate steel and fur-trimmed armor.
