The painting features series protagonist Jamethiel "Jame" Priest's-Bane standing poised with a dagger and wooden stave against a rugged mountain vista, while a fierce, horned feline predator looms on a ledge behind her. Modeled by frequent Caldwell collaborator Christine Klingbiel in a costume specially made for visual continuity across the book covers, the illustration stands as one of Caldwell's personal favorite later fantasy works.
