Painted in 1984 by Clyde Caldwell, 'Dragons of Triumph' served as the cover art for the 1986 Advanced Dungeons & Dragons adventure module DL14: Dragons of Triumph, as well as an illustration in the 1985 TSR Dragonlance Calendar. The artwork portrays the dramatic confrontation near the climax of the War of the Lance within the dark Temple of Neraka, where the captured Golden General, Princess Laurana Kanan, is restrained in chains by draconian guards before the five-headed chromatic dragon goddess Takhisis (the Queen of Darkness).
