Painted in 1984 by TSR staff artist Clyde Caldwell, Alerelean depicts an alluring female ranger in feathered buckskin garments kneeling beneath a rugged tree in a mountain wilderness with a recurve bow, accompanied by an armored, harness-wearing mammalian companion. Modeled by Jeanne Stanley, the painting served as the cover art for Dragon Magazine #94 (February 1985), which featured Gary Gygax's revised rules for the Ranger class, and was later reprinted as a color interior plate in The Complete Ranger's Handbook (1993) and several TSR art compilations.
